Władysław Turowicz (born 10 September 1908) was a Polish Air Force pilot and aeronautical engineer who came to Pakistan after World War II and made it his permanent home. He passed away on 8 January 1980 in Karachi, Pakistan, where he is also laid to rest.
After joining the Pakistan Air Force in its early years, he served as a senior technical and training figure and later became an important part of Pakistan’s aviation and aerospace development work. His experience helped train young engineers and officers at a time when Pakistan was building its defence institutions from scratch.
He is also remembered for the support he received from his wife, Maria Turowicz, who stayed with him in Pakistan and was involved in community and welfare-related activities. Along with him, a small group of Polish aviation experts also came to Pakistan in those early years, contributing to technical training and aviation support.
For his services, Pakistan honoured him with national recognition, including senior ranks and awards such as the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, reflecting the respect he earned for his dedication and long service.
Today, Turowicz is remembered as a symbol of loyalty and contribution beyond borders — a man who chose Pakistan as his home and served it with commitment until his last breath.
